project reflection:
I chose to draw my project because I wanted to create art from my soul. I feel that the only way I could have made an image that was uniquely me but touched others was through a drawing. I wanted too show that the pain of a culture that functions not on care but on idealized profit, hurts everyone, and though our journey's are individual they are still so close to each other. I wanted to give the message that it could be anyone and it is everyone that suffers from the industrialized food system. I believe that if I worked with a photo in Photoshop I could not have grasped the same personal yet all encompassing effect. I got my idea across by putting my person in the middle of the picture to draw emphasis to him. I then used line and color to show the mood of each picture fully. I created a feeling of content and health in the first picture with bright happy colors and straight radiating lines. In the second picture I used dark intense colors and painful, cutting, bleeding, ripping lines. After this project I have decided that I would not have chose another topic then the effect industrial food has on developing countries and impoverished people. I felt my topic was relevant and Important. If I where to do this project again I would fill out my essay more and refine my art more. But over all I liked the approach I took to my project and am happy with the content. if I where to choose another topic it would be along the lines of hunter gather life styles. |
Egyptian Art Brochure
Prehistoric Art lecture
|
During the Egyptian art unit I made a brochure in Adobe in-design. my brochure features the Egyptian book of the dead, a book printed on papyrus scroll to provide spells and rituals for safe passage through the underworld into the afterlife.
|
During the prehistoric art unit I drew a picture of a man hunting a deer, then used different live trace features on adobe illustrator to give the same image different effects. The meaning of hunting was important to early people of the paleolithic through neolithic eras. in the Mesolithic era people started representing actions like hunting.

Stop motion Animation project
|
In The stop motion animation Unit, I created a stop motion animation that gave the effect of a dragon being drawn on its own in fast forward. I used Adobe flash to do many things like add sound an intro, credits and finally put the sequence together.

Lighting and Depth of Field Study
This picture is an example of Shallow depth of field. Where one section of the image is in focus while the rest of the image is blurred, drawing emphasis to the section in focus. This section can be in the foreground, Background or middle ground.
|
This picture is an example of wide depth of field. Wide depth of field pictures show everything in the same focus. pictures with wide depth of field usually are of landscapes.
|
This pictures directional light is from the side. This is an example of hard light because the light came from a small focused lamp.

Short Story Book Cover
In the book cover project, I drew a picture to be the cover of my short story and then edited it in Adobe illustrator and Photoshop. I then placed it on the back ground of a slick rock wall, making a cave art affect.
Free write Up
To have an engaging book cover you must have images, color schemes, themes, and patterns that hold meaning in your story. Good Metaphors and symbols are key to making a quality book cover. Your book cover must convey the mood of your story. For example my book cover shows Rhythm to convey the movement of the heart and of running. A good book cover or billboard will grab your Attention and spark curiosity in you. It is also more important for a book cover to make sense to your reader then to have personal meaning that only speaks to you. Although, all art is beautiful and many different styles and moods work for showing your story and emotion.
Art is used for communication because it powerfully and easily conveys human emotion. Images, textures, and Styles can mean so many different things for people. Art is used for communication in adds, covers of magazines, books, and movies. Art is used to grab peoples attention. it is made to make people agree with your opinion. it is made to share emotions and views on the world. It is important for art to depend on the viewers point of view if the art is meant to make you want to consume the product it is on. like book, magazine, or movie covers. it is less important if the work of art is for personal means. things like paintings, and self portraits can be all for you. Different Art will always speak to different people in different ways, and that is why it is all relevant and beautiful. |
Photoshop Tutorials (learning and making cool effects in Photoshop)
Name Project
In the Name project, I photographed images in nature and in town that I thought would be unique and artistic letters in my name. I then changed them in Photoshop to make my name. I used things like, branches of a tree, a bike from, a cherry on the side of the road, and a snake. have fun looking ant discovering what each letter is.
Teacher Animal Poster Project
In the Teacher Animal Poster project, I mixed the features my adviser nick and a tiger, then placed this image on a background that was in harmony with his personality. This project built respect and trust with my teacher; and helped me learn how to work with multiple layers and tools in Photoshop to create cool art.
