Durango Nature studies Management Project
The Durango Nature studies Project consisted of us going to DNS and conducting research that informed us about the water Quality, vegetation, and the relationship between the Native leopard frog and the invasive Bullfrog, we then returned to Animas high school and dove in on righting a paper that covered many topics about DNS ranging from management plans to species Over Views. During this project I learned how to wright in a scientific technical way. It was challenging but in the end I feel I learned a great deal about invasive species, and management plans. The Most challenging part of the project was learning how to wright in a technical way the best part of the project was learning about stability in biodiversity.
Monkey Meal planning Project
During the monkey meal planning project we chose a primate type in the primate rescue center and planned a daily meal for it. I chose a spider monkey with irritable bowl syndrome. I had to make sure that the monkey got enough calories, not too many and was eating nice foods for its stomach. i put the foods and their calorie count in a excel and wrote out the recipe as well as a paragraph with information about irritable bowl syndrome.
Dissection of a dog fish shark
During dissection, garret and I dissected a Spiny Dogfish Shark. We learned the Anatomy of the shark inside and out, leading from the snout to the cloaca. We also learned the functions of major organs the gill system and heart, as the reproductive system and external anatomy. We were then tested on the sharks anatomy individually.
community connection
For my community connection, I volunteered with my track team at the Spirit Runners 5k and mile fun run. This race was a fundraiser for the title 7 program, a Native American youth education program focused on supporting native youth in high school and to further success into college or any path that suits people. My friend Gordon and I bustled about cutting food, taking race numbers from the finishers, and fetching things. the experience was wonderful and peaceful on a rainy Saturday morning. before the race started I we took part in a simple ceremony blessing the 7 directions. I felt helpful and part of a community, it was wonderful.
Forensics Project
During the Forensics Project we were able to investigate a mock crime scene and replicate situations that use cutting edge knowledge and technology about crimes and exoneration such as forensic entomology as well as DNA Analysis. After we solved our Mock crime we put together a presentation showing all of our evidence and its processing.

This project allowed me to think critically and independently because we were given very little direction from Colleen. My partner garret and I Took turns writing about the evidence we processed. Something else that this project gave me was the importance of factual data and the great things it can do like exonerate wrongfully convicted People from a life in jail.
